If you are shopping for a new air conditioning unit you are probably noticing the measurement COP or coefficient of performance.  This is an important number to incorporate into deciding on a unit because it tells you the ratio of energy input to cooling output.  If your cooling system has a COP between 2.5 and 4.0 that is about average, but there are newer models with ratings of 5.0.
